The name of the choir is a play in words; Murtosointu translates as arpeggio, a chord played or sung in sequence rather than simultaneously, and also as the “Chord of Murto”, reflecting its founding father, dir.mus. Seppo Murto.

In 2016 the choir performed in the San Paolo fuori le mura Cathedral as part of the celebrations of Holy Year Jubilee.

The choir celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2018 with a trip to Florence International Choir Festival in May. For the 20th anniversary, Murtosointu traveled to Durham, UK, to perform and practise for the 20th anniversary concert in November.
